Visits, weekly boarding and the London bus

A home from home in the Sussex countryside

Windlesham House welcomes children aged four to thirteen, set within 70 acres of the South Downs. We understand there’s no place like home, but we are proud to offer a nurturing environment where children are happy, well cared for and truly flourish while living, learning and playing at Windlesham House.

Weekly boarding and our weekly London bus mean your child can enjoy everything the school offers in the week and be home with you at the weekend.

Weekly boarding

Weekly boarding pupils board from Sunday evening or Monday morning through to Friday afternoon, going home each weekend. This suits families who want their children to experience boarding while keeping strong weekend family time.

Boarding at Windlesham House is homely, fun and supportive – a real community where pupils feel part of a family. Children can start boarding from Year 3 (age seven onwards), and flexi and occasional boarding let them try it first.

  • Independence and confidence – boarding develops resilience, self-reliance and social skills
  • Lifelong friendships – living together creates deep, lasting friendships
  • Maximising opportunities – prep is completed at school under supervision, leaving evenings free for enrichment
  • Supportive community – caring boarding staff and matrons look after your child around the clock

What our boarders say

I love boarding. The opportunities are endless.

Rose, Year 7

Weekly London bus service

We operate a weekly minibus service for pupils who live in London and are weekly boarders. The bus leaves school around 4.30pm every Friday and arrives in Putney around 6.00pm. On Sunday, the bus arrives at 4.00pm for a 4.30pm departure back to school.

Windlesham House sits in the heart of the South Downs National Park near Washington in West Sussex, about 1 hour 30 minutes from London by car, with direct access from the A24.
